This is Week 4 from a sermon series Daniel preached at Anthem Church in July 2017. 'Exile' is an abbreviated look into the book of 1 Peter and the lives that we are called to live as 'Elect Exiles.'
Summary: "But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light" (1 Peter 2:9). God’s purpose in redeeming us is not simply our enjoyment, but that we might glorify him (emphasis on the word “that…”). Seeking our own eternal well being—right though that is—could never provide a truly satisfying goal for life. The answer to our search for ultimate meaning lies in ‘declaring the excellencies’ of God, for he alone is infinitely worthy of glory. Redemption is ultimately not man-centred but God-centred.
