Sermon On The Mount – Week 2

We dove into the Beatitudes for our second week into The Sermon. John Stott described the beatitudes by saying: “The more we explore their implications, the more seems to remain unexplored. Their wealth is inexhaustible. We cannot plumb their depths. Truly, ‘We are near heaven here.’” And hence, we took our time.

We broke the Beatitudes into two parts and focused on the first four this week. The big idea for us to remember is that The Sermon, and the beatitudes specifically, are “not a list of requirements, but rather a description of the life of a people gathered by and around Jesus.” — Stanley Hauerwas (theologian/ethicist at Duke University).

*** Due to technical difficulties, we didn’t capture a recording of this week’s sermon. We’ve uploaded Daniel’s sermon notes HERE instead. ***
